AML & Compliance Manager
Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced AML & Compliance Manager to lead and strengthen our AML and regulatory compliance framework, ensuring the business meets all applicable legal, regulatory, and governance obligations.
The Job
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and maintaining the firm’s Anti-Money Laundering (AML) framework, as well as supporting regulatory compliance in relation to the firm’s Trustee and Company Service Provider licence. Working closely with senior management, the successful candidate will promote a strong culture of compliance, ethical conduct, and risk awareness across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities:
- Supporting the MLRO in the implementation, maintenance, and continuous enhancement of the firm’s AML/CFT, sanctions, and financial crime framework.
- Ensuring the firm’s AML/CFT framework remains aligned with applicable legislation, regulatory requirements, Implementing Procedures, international standards, and internal policies and procedures.
- Ensuring onboarding, risk assessments, ongoing monitoring, periodic reviews, trigger event reviews, remediation activities, and customer offboarding are conducted in accordance with the firm’s AML/CFT framework, risk appetite, and regulatory obligations.
- Reviewing and approving higher-risk or complex onboarding cases, escalating matters to the MLRO where appropriate.
- Overseeing transaction monitoring, screening and other financial crime monitoring activities, ensuring alerts are investigated, documented, and escalated in a timely manner.
- Monitoring regulatory developments and industry best practices, recommending enhancements to the firm’s AML/CFT framework and control environment.
- Prepare AML management information, reports, key performance indicators (KPIs), and key risk indicators (KRIs) for the MLRO and senior management.
- Managing, leading, and developing the AML team, providing guidance, coaching, and technical support to ensure a high standard of performance and regulatory compliance.
- Allocating and prioritising workloads across the AML team, ensuring customer onboarding, ongoing monitoring, reviews, investigations, and remediation activities are completed within regulatory deadlines and internal service standards.
- Promoting a strong culture of compliance, integrity, and risk awareness across the organisation by providing AML guidance, training, and day-to-day support to business units and relevant stakeholders.
- Supporting the Compliance Officer in maintaining the firm’s compliance framework in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, MFSA Rules, FIAU Implementing Procedures, and internal policies.
- Assisting in the execution of the Compliance Monitoring Programme, including conducting monitoring reviews, documenting findings, and tracking remedial actions.
- Monitoring regulatory developments and assist with the implementation of changes to policies, procedures, and internal controls.
- Supporting the preparation of regulatory reports, management information, and Board reporting relating to compliance matters.
- Providing day-to-day compliance guidance to the business and assist with regulatory queries, inspections, audits, and requests from competent authorities.
- Assisting in delivering compliance training and promoting a strong culture of regulatory compliance and ethical conduct throughout the organisation.
Requirements
The preferred candidate for this role should possess:
- A bachelor’s degree in Compliance, Law, Finance, Business, Risk Management, or a related discipline.
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in AML and regulatory compliance within financial services.
- Experience preparing Board and regulatory reports.
- Excellent analytical and investigative skills.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- Have the ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
- Excellent written and spoken English.
