Tax Accountant

An opportunity has arisen to join the firm as a Tax Accountant, playing a key role in the continued growth and success of the tax compliance team. This role focuses on managing a portfolio of clients, overseeing complex tax compliance matters, and providing high-quality technical guidance, while delivering timely reports and insights to clients.
The Job

Key responsibilities:

  • Managing a diverse portfolio of clients across multiple industries, overseeing the preparation and review of income tax computations, Malta income tax returns, tax refund claims, and related tax filings
  • Ensuring full compliance with regulatory requirements, maintaining high standards of accuracy, quality, and timeliness across all deliverables
  • Advising clients on tax compliance obligations and transactional matters, providing practical, commercially focused solutions
  • Monitoring developments in Malta tax legislation and assessing their impact on clients, delivering proactive and technically robust advice
  • Acting as a key point of contact with Malta tax authorities, handling correspondence, queries, and negotiations on behalf of clients
  • Reviewing work prepared by junior team members, providing guidance, technical support, and training to support their professional development
  • Contributing to process improvements and the enhancement of internal tax procedures to drive efficiency and consistency
  • Fostering strong client relationships and promoting a collaborative, high-performance team culture aligned with the Firm’s values
Requirements
The preferred candidate for this role should possess:

  • A recognised accounting qualification (or be in the final stages of completing the ACCA qualification or an equivalent certification)
  • A minimum of 4 years’ experience in an accounting role, including at least 2 years focused on tax, ideally within a corporate or client-facing environment
  • Strong working knowledge of tax compliance obligations, including income tax returns and related statutory filings
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Proficiency in accounting software, ideally Xero, and Microsoft Office applications
  • Strong client relationship management and interpersonal skills
  • The ability to work independently, use initiative, and collaborate effectively within a team environment
