MSIA brings businesses and philanthropists together to support local initiatives that have a positive social impact on Malta and help social purpose organisations grow into stronger entities.
“We believe in investing in initiatives that will have a lasting, positive impact on the local community and can bring transformational change to our society. By supporting platforms such as the ‘Malta Social Impact Awards’, we are glad we can contribute to making a difference for the community we are part of. Supporting changemakers and social entrepreneurs is not only a good deed, but it’s also an investment in the wellbeing of future generations and I hope we will inspire other businesses to join this initiative” – said Olga Finkel, Co-Managing Partner WH Partners.
Five finalists pitched their initiatives during the event, explaining their inspirational stories and how they will change lives with the funds they win.
First place was awarded to Charity Shops for the Community, an initiative by Inspire Foundation. The initiative seeks to create a more dignified way of shopping to help people at risk of poverty who may not be able to buy essential items.
Adopt a Grandparent by Missio Malta and Newsbook.com.mt won second place. Adopt a Grandparent is an initiative which is aimed at pairing senior citizens within our community with caring individuals who touch base regularly to help the elderly feel loved and help combat loneliness and solitude. Third place was awarded to Thrive Education and Wellness Farm by Thrive Malta. Thrive Education and Wellness Farm is a wellness gardening programme that is aimed at improving mental and physical health – whilst enjoying nature and its therapeutic benefits.
