IFLR Names WH Partners as Tier 1 Firm and Three Partners as Leading Lawyers

18 Oct 2016

International Financial Law Review (IFLR) has rated WH Partners as a Tier 1 firm in the Financial and Corporate section of their 2017 annual guide. Three firm partners — Olga Finkel, James Scicluna and Ruth Galea — have also been named “Leading Lawyers” by the publication.

In this most recent edition of the IFLR, WH Partners is described as “… an excellent firm…undoubtedly the best in the field of gambling law in Malta, and one of the primary firms internationally.” The firm is further praised saying “the people are knowledgeable, have ready answers, respond quickly and understand the business context,” with the editors also noting, “though best known for its gaming work, where it is arguably the leader in the jurisdiction, WH Partners is not a mere one sector boutique and clients are impressed by its work and scope.”

Finkel is widely respected for her knowledge of gambling and technology law. She founded WH Law in 2006 that became WH Partners. She provides advice on strategic, commercial and regulatory matters to businesses in the gaming, ICT, financial services and real estate industries. A client quoted in IFLR says about Finkel, “an authority in gambling law and never falls short in the financial and corporate matters of relevance to gambling companies.

Scicluna is a Malta Advocate and a Solicitor of the Senior Court of England and Wales, providing advice primarily in the gaming, financial services, real estate and hospitality industries. Scicluna’s areas of expertise include: government relations, gambling regulation, IPR licensing, sponsorship, brand development, mergers and acquisitions, international corporate and tax structuring and joint ventures.

Galea is a corporate and financial services lawyer, practicing primarily in the financial services, capital markets, gaming and ICT industries. Her principal areas of specialisation are corporate finance, corporate governance, corporate restructuring, credit and financial institutions, taxation and contract drafting and negotiation. She also regularly advises on matters relating to investment funds, capital markets, gaming law and employment law.
