Taking place on 15 May at the Hyatt Regency in St Julian’s, Malta, the event will explore how rapid technological innovation is reshaping the tax landscape, particularly in the area of digital assets.
Ramona Cassar, who also serves as Council Member and Chairperson of the Tax Technology Committee of the Malta Institute of Taxation, is actively involved in organising the conference and will chair all panels throughout the event.
Joseph Borg will moderate the panel ‘Getting taxation right – Spotlight on the Crypto industry’, which will explore how evolving tax frameworks are struggling to keep pace with crypto innovation, this panel examines classification challenges, cross-border inconsistencies, and the growing compliance burden on the industry.
Mark Galea Salomone will moderate the panel discussion ‘DAC8 and the Future of Crypto Tax Transparency’, which will explore the EU’s DAC8 directive and its impact on crypto tax enforcement, including new reporting requirements for crypto-asset service providers, its alignment with the OECD’s CARF framework, and the implications for compliance, audits, and cross-border reporting.
