Tessa Schembri

Tessa joined WH Partners in 2017 as a trainee lawyer, continuing as a junior associate in 2019. 

Before joining the firm, Tessa worked in-house as a legal associate at a remote gaming operator and as a legal intern at a corporate service provider. During her traineeship at WH Partners, Tessa sat in the firm’s Blockchain and Crypto, and Corporate M&A practices. 

Tessa practices in the firm’s Corporate M&A team, advising on a transactions and deals within the technology sector. She regularly advises Malta based gambling operators and service providers falling under the Virtual Financial Assets framework. 

Education

Tessa is currently a student at University College London where she is reading for a Master of Laws degree, specialising in international commercial law. She represents UCL in the international technology think tank “LawWithoutWalls” run by the University of Miami, in which she is leading a project on promoting diversity and inclusion within the esports industry.

Tessa read law at the University of Malta, graduating with a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) degree in 2018 and a Master of Advocacy degree in 2019. She completed an undergraduate dissertation which explored the legal status of cryptocurrencies within the European Union.
