Our client-oriented team is proficient in advising both domestic and international clients on direct and indirect tax matters. The team’s day to day includes advising clients on company set-ups, operation of businesses, employment tax matters and estate planning, as well as assisting with ongoing tax compliance and tax audits. The team regularly works with foreign law firms and tax advisors on cross-border matters. The close links that the team establishes with international advisors help in providing clients with all-rounded tax advice that works both locally and abroad.
With its combined knowledge and experience our team strives to guide clients in achieving commercially viable and efficient structures and optimal solutions.
The team continues to keep abreast with the latest innovative technologies. Together with other departments within WH Partners, the team is competent in assisting clients who operate in these emerging industries. Head of Tax Ramona Azzopardi also chairs the Tax Technology Committee within the Malta Institute of Taxation, where the Committee’s aim is to focus on the dynamics between the continuously developing technology and tax and the risks and opportunities these technologies pose on the tax industry.
In light of the new era of tax transparency, the tax team is also equipped with providing advice on matters of automatic exchange of information, such as FATCA and CRS, DAC6 and DAC7. Our tax team assists with the implementation of such regimes, the classification of the legal entities or arrangements under the appropriate categories as well as the preparation of the necessary reporting documentation.
Our team continues to keep tabs on the latest local and global trends, proposals, and case law by attending conferences both locally and abroad, seminars, practitioners round tables, and workshops. Our team members are also leading tax professionals actively involved in local circles including the Malta Institute of Taxation, Malta Institute of Accountants, the Institute of Financial Services Practitioners, and the Chamber of Advocates. Our team members also give seminars and lectures on topics of local, international, and European tax to other practitioners and regularly speak on panels at conferences abroad.
